Dear forum colleg , I read everything you've wrote above, in all posts.Therefore I post conclusion : Scanner failure !The bar of leds is lighting , no doubt, but the fotoreceiver from scanner unit is defective.The home position isn't detected and the step motor works by command from formatter board ...and of course, the knock-annoying noise ! Good luck with warranty !

If you would have read my previous posts you could have read that the scannerbar is moving forward and backward but that the servo motor isn't stopping after retracting. I further wrote that everyting else works and that includes the led lamp ofcourse.
I normally try to be as complete as possible in stating what a problem consist of and i think i did that this time aswell. Elswhere i would have stated that the LED lamp wasn't lit aswell.
Anyway, an on-site visit next week will solve the problem under warranty.

If you still have warranty for MF printer, they will change it for free !(Hope so).

TNX for your ideas. I think the servo motor is defect. I have called SAMSUNG SC today and since the MFP is until march 2011 under warranty they pay me a visit next week. I think they are replacing the servo motor. Strange that it breaks down after 223 glass plate scans, but then that could be my karma.

Normally you should check to see what is broken - servo motor or the electronic board witch

control the servo motor. (You need replacement parts for test.)

You could try to see if are any optical sensors or replace servo motor. I ran out of ideas.

The scanner bar is moving forward but when it returns to it's start position the servo motor
doesn't stop. It keeps on turning for a while and then it stops and the display shows
"SCANNER ERROR". I suspect something might be wrong with the electronic circuit not detecting
the start position from the scanner bar. I have already inspected the mechanical part and
everything there is allright. IE no broken belt or excessive wear on the motor gear.
Thanks for confirming the SM of the SX-4200 that I have already.
Any other suggestions??

Hi all,

I have a problem with my SCX-4300.
After having this multifunctional printer/scanner/copier for about 1,5 yrs i now have a scanner
error.
The printer report shows only 223 glassplatescans.
If i switch on the printer while it's connected via USB to the PC running Windows XP SP3 the
initialisation on the printer starts and the scanner motor starts. It then tries to retract the led scanner into the rest position but the servo motor keeps on spinning. After a short while the servo motor stops and the display shows "SCANNER ERROR".

Printing is no problem and erverything else works.
